Burr Ridge Community

Park Foundation

Foundation Website: http://www.burrridgeparkfoundation.org

The Burr Ridge Community Park Foundation was incorporated in 2008 by a group of individuals dedicated to making the Burr Ridge Park District's parks and programs the best they can be. The foundation supports the Park District by combining monetary donations with time and energy in order to nurture community spirit, protect and preserve open space, and promote the health and welfare of residents. To date, we have raised over $75,000 in response to this mission.

Monies raised have supplemented the park district's aquatic programs including the wetlands and splash pad projects at Harvester Park and the revitalization at Woods Pool.  Our most recent and largest project, the Harvester Park Adult Fitness Court, is now open and providing an exciting, open-air, workout experience; bringing physical fitness out of the gym and into the parks where you can enjoy the outdoors, keep an eye on your kids and get fit simultaneously.   We are currently developing plans to increase workout opportunities for teens and adults with fitness equipment installations proposed at additional parks. The foundation also provides financial assistance in hardship situations for participation in park programs.

Last September we hosted our fifth annual Pedal the Parks bike tour attracting close to 120 riders of all ages. Participants enjoyed a 10 mile tour through 4 of our most beautiful parks and a closing party with breakfast and entertainment. We are excited to carry on this event!  Currently the foundation is working on plans for a culinary tasting event for spring 2018.   Also, look for us every fall at Harvest Fest.

By working closely with the Burr Ridge Park District, the Foundation plans to identify projects that will expand recreational facilities and opportunities, and develop environmental initiatives. The Foundation is looking for members interested in helping achieve our vision.
