The Burr Ridge Community Park Foundation was incorporated in 2008 by a group of individuals dedicated to making the Burr Ridge Park District's parks and programs the best they can be. The foundation supports the Park District by combining monetary donations with time and energy, by nurturing community spirit, by protecting and preserving open space, and by promoting the health and welfare of residents. To date, we have raised nearly $50,000 in response to this mission.
Monies raised have supplemented the park district's aquatic programs including the wetlands and splash pad projects at Harvester Park and the recent revitalization at Woods Pool. The foundation also provides financial assistance for participation in park programs. We are currently developing plans to increase fitness opportunities for teens and adults, including exciting new ourdoor fitness fun.
Last September, we hosted our third Pedal the Parks bike tour, attracting close to 200 riders of all ages. Participants enjoyed a 10 mile tour through 4 of our most beautiful parks and an after party with breakfast and entertainment. We are excited to carry on this event and look for us at Harvest Fest as well.
By working closely with the Burr Ridge Park District, the Foundation plans to identify projects that will expand recreational facilities and opportunities, and develop environmental initiatives. The Foundation is looking for members interested in helping achieve our vision.
